Unusual things that make life a little easier

On moving away from the other inner city…

  1. Cleaner drinking water. It’s such a pleasure to live in an area that has water that comes from a better source that doesn’t have to be drastically chemically altered to be usable. You can use it in your kettle, food preparation and you don’t feel weird (when you remember) that it’s actually recycled sewage as you lie in your bath.
  2. Safety. There is nothing more relaxing than knowing that when the sun is out in summer, and you want to take a walk in the park, or just a walk (at any time), forgot to lock the car or the back door, need to start jogging or realise you are lost somewhere – that you are safe and there is no potential criminal activities lurking about.
  3. A short commute to work in the morning. If it took me 15 minutes either way I’d have an extra 1-and-a-half hours to my day
  4. Driving your own car – a less gross way to travel to work compared to hot, smelly, sardine-packed, tramp-invaded underground carriages that make your general fresh-out-of-the-shower fragrance result in farm-like fumes
  5. Space – to park your car, bigger bathrooms at home, bigger bathrooms in public places, larger walking areas, bigger shopping centres with longer aisles and a larger selection of everything
  6. Beautiful walks, lakes, cycling routes almost on your doorstep
  7. Where everything is a little cheaper and better value for your money
  8. Having gardens versus concrete patches
  9. Organic produce that taste like real fruit and veg
  10. A better pace of life – slower and less stressful
